I’ve sunk quite a few hours into Grand Theft Auto V this week, and by quite a few, I mean like 30.
I can honestly say that this game has blown me away on nearly every level. The writing, acting, design, and attention to detail has completely astounded me. It is as near to perfection as anything I’ve ever played has been.
Maybe I’m just in the honeymoon phase of playing this game; but it’s difficult to remember a time when I’ve laughed out loud in astonishment over a piece of entertainment. To me this game is just that: astonishing. It is unlike anything else I’ve ever experienced on both a technical and narrative level.
For me, video games are a wonderful way to experience nearly every form of art at once. Grand Theft Auto V is one of the greatest examples of what games can do. They can build worlds filled with life and detail: creating a playground of endless possibility.
I’ve begun photographically documenting the graffiti of San Andreas using the in game tools. I’m blogging that HERE. Give me a follow if you’re into that sort of thing.
